My great grandmother was Katherine Barnes Adams Dewey, a most proper lady and an excellent cook. I don't remember much about her but I do remember the ten pound cakes she always brought out at Christmas. Great grandmother used bourbon and walnuts in her cake but I decided to make a change and I use brandy and pecans. The cakes are made with fresh creamery butter and farm fresh eggs from the Willamette Valley and the finest glazed fruits along with currants and vine fruits.

The cake is stirred by hand --no mixer here to bruise the fruit or crush those succulent pecans. Then the cakes are baked, oh so slowly. After baking the cakes are hand decorated and soaked in brandy then left to properly age. I know you will enjoy them and be proud to give as gifts to your family and friends.
